The foldable children's bathtub
The foldable children’s bathtub
Flexi Bath is a safe, clean and environmentally responsible product from a real cool world.
For some time we had felt that it must surely be possible to product a baby bath which is foldable so that it doesn’t take up space in the bathroom. After all, a baby bath is in use for maybe half an hour a day, but it occupies valuable space 24 hours a day.
Flexi Bath folds easily together and is stored flat against the wall, in a cupboard, under a bed etc.
Flexi Bath is made from Polypropylene (PP) and Thermoplastic Elastomeric (TPE). Both types of raw materials are free from PVC, phthalates, Bisphenol-a (BPA, heavy metals and other harmful or hazardous materials.
As you know the Flexi Bath has been manufactured and distributed with the greatest considerations for health, safety and the environment. The soft plastic (TPE) has been produced with the oil ingredient ‘white medical oil’ which acts as an emollient. The bathtub has been thoroughly tested by the Danish Technological Institute and complies with all Danish and European standards (EN/71).
Using your Flexi Bath
Beware that certain oleaginous products MAY ‘mix’ with the ‘white medical oil’. This means that repeated and excessive use of liquids containing oil, eg baby oil, may damage the soft plastic (TPE) over time.
To avoid this, only use water, soap and shampoo in the tub. This ensures that your Flexi Bath lasts for a long time for the benefit of your family and the environment.
Non-slip bottom and colour combinations
For comfort and safety, the bottom of the bath has a non-slip surface. The bath can be supplied in a wide range of colours including completely transparent.
The drain plug
Instead of having just an ordinary drain plug in the bathtub, we wanted something that also brought a smile to the faces of both the children and their parents (especially the parents). This resulted in the idea of a temperature sensitive drain plug which changes colour when the bath water approaches the ideal bathing temperature. This is, of course, only meant as an indication and CANNOT be used as a thermometer.
This technology is not new and has been used in many other products – however, it has not previously been possible to produce this material without adding Bisphenal-A (BPA). BPA is a softner (phthalate) which is under suspicion of being harmful to the human organism. There is as of yet no legislation regarding the use of BPA in bathtubs but we at A Real Cool World do not want to use materials which are under suspicion of being harmful – even if there is no legislation that prohibits the use of it.
We have together with a European manufacturer concentrated our efforts to produce this colour change without the use of BPA. We have succeeded in doing so – but in coming up with this ‘new technology’ we are not fully satisfied with the quality of the colour change. Therefore, we have decided to launch Flexi Bath with a black drain plug that does not change colour, and then introduce the colour changing plug when our supplier has developed some great colours. This will probably be in mid 2010.
Flexi Bath is designed and produced in Denmark. Patent Pending.
